Intro to Computer Science

Computer Programming Basics

The course is designed to motivate students to learn computer science to improve real world relationships,
connections, and life. This course will teach students about computer science, computational thinking, and programming. This course
is designed to help students persevere in solving problems.
We take a blended learning approach to teaching computer science, which means that students learn from a mix of online, self-guided
activities and unplugged activities, which are traditional teacher-led activities that use no computer at all.
Our online activities use Blockly or SCRATCH, a visual programming language, where you drag and drop blocks together to write code.
AGES: Grades 5-8

Introduction to Web Design

Elements of Website Design

This course introduces students to the structure and elements of web design. Using a WYSIWYG editor and other online tools
Students will create their own websites based around a personal interest or social cause.
Learn the key elements of design and HTML5 and the concepts of planning and organizing websites.
Students will progress through the course, engaging in a variety of project-based assessments to evaluate their Understanding.

Video Production & Editing

Digital Storytelling

Participants will use photo- and video-editing software to create a digital story create a short music video responding to
personal issues, such as identity. Participants will explore their own histories to construct a personal narrative. Youth participants
will utilize media tools in order to effectively communicate their ideas and tell their stories in a unique and personal way.
